A Migrating Self

Tori-a fresh write on painkillers (good stuff)..LOL.  I need to write more poems to have some for the Nov 16th reading. I'm trying to make a several points here--does it come through?  I keep asking "so what"? Did I go deep enough?  Annette

She is the lone Canada goose
leaving the V,
the needle of her compass
spins away from the flock,
no longer in that mainstream,
circling to the opposite direction,
re-defining her true north
pointing straight to female
against the pull of
football, beards, the hunt,
backslapping peer pressure.
She’s gone beyond her birth-self
names the pain, renames herself
Pain is her power.
She flies to catch up,
leads the Apex,
working harder to pull others along
sure of the way now.
